Widow Jane Distilled from a Rye Mash American Oak & Apple Wood Aged Whiskey

I’m not a rye whiskey guy. Almost always bourbon. But I make an exception for this one. Great flavor and a 9 plus on my 1-10 scale so the price works fine.

Stellum Black Fibonacci Rye Whiskey

Stellum has a well-earned reputation for excellence, and this Black Fibonacci Rye is exactly why. It's fantastic. Such a smooth, delicious blend of vanilla/apple sweetness with a nice rye spice. It drinks a little hot, but nothing too strong. I'm wishing I'd bought two.

Maybe this rye needs to breathe more, but I found it to be very bitter, as if it was medicine. I'm not impressed.

Willett Family Estate 4 Year Old Small Batch Straight Rye Whiskey

Excellent as ecpected

I had tried this at a friend’s house and fell in love with it immediately. The spicy Rye flavors together with the oak makes for a tasty drink. Excellent with one large ice cube. It is at a price point similar to other premium Straight Rye Whiskeys.

George Dickel Rye Whisky

Regardless of price point, this is a phenomenal rye. But when the price is considered, it is an exceptional rye. This is smooth, with a nice level of sweetness. I'm usually a fan of no. 5 char, but with the 2/4 char combo, it really imparts a nice oak flavor. The finish is my favorite - cherries, caramel, cinnamon flavors that linger. Add this to your favorites.

BHAKTA 1928 Rye Whiskey

Now I’m not very attuned to everything that is whiskey. However, I found this blend to be a wonderful way to get into the whiskey world, and at the right price. I can taste vanilla for sure, and maybe a hint of caramel with an oak finish. It was pretty smooth but it’ll warm you up in a nice way. I would definitely recommend it to someone getting into whiskey and I can’t imagine any seasoned whiskey drinkers would have to many bad things to say.

Alberta Premium Cask Strength Rye Whisky

For Rye lovers, this is just a must have in the collection. It has a great rye spice and a lovely oak layer. Great proof point. I creamy feel if its cold enough, ie; in an Old Fashioned.

Angel's Envy Rum Cask Finished Rye Whiskey

This one has become on of our favs!
I typically don't prefer ryes but all the flavors here, maple, sweet, and still a bit hot(in the chest) ...loving it!

Laws San Luis Valley Straight Rye Whiskey

This is the first Rye I got and I am in love. I drink it as a digestif after meal. It has a lot of flavor hiding under every sip. Vanilla, coconut, dates, orange, banana, cloves and cardamom. A reasonably priced and a great looking bottle from an independent whisky maker, can’t go wrong. The proof is just right and it drinks very smooth (flavorful but not rough). The color and viscosity of the whisky is also perfect.

Old Overholt Rye Whiskey

Head and shoulders above comparably priced Ryes

Good nose. Very good on palate. Rich for the price. Clean finish. Easy drinking neat.

Willett Family Estate 4 Year Old Small Batch Straight Rye Whiskey

Wasn’t sure what to expect but I bought it because of previous reviews about a floral nose. Spot on floral, almost tropical nose with touch of honeysuckle.

Deep amber and rich color in the glass. Lots of mouth covering velvety lingering juice. Notes of butterscotch, ripe fruit, pops of menthol/mint and spice. Great finish that’s is elegant and keeps on giving. I’d say buy , but then you might get the last bottle front running me so don’t buy lol.

Black Button Empire Rye Whiskey

Like no rye I’ve tasted

I wondered if the whole “Empire rye” thing was just a branding exercise but nope. Mashbill of 95% heirloom rye, this stuff is the real deal. Spicy, chewy, minty, super deep and flavorful. You’ve likely never had a rye that tastes quite like this one. Highly recommended!

Rebel Straight Rye Whiskey

Got a bottle for Christmas. Made up a batch of Manhattans with Rebel Rye and they tasted great. Smooth and not too harsh.

Templeton 10 Year Old Reserve Rye Whiskey

Smooth with a pinch of Perfection

This by far is my favorite whiskey… for now. Templeton is a smooth draw of sweetness with smokey flavors. Highly recommend this whiskey to anyone who want to level up.

I was amazed at the flavor complexity of this pocket friendly Rye from Brown Foreman. The OF Rye has a flavor that rivals Ryes that sell for double that of its suggest retail price. It has become my go to Rye for sipping neat or for mixing.

Ran a taste test with Ezra rye n wt101 rye. For the price and only .6 proof difference. Ezra is just as good. ..I like it..

Hudson Whiskey NY Short Stack Straight Rye Whiskey

The mix of Rye aged in maple barrels contrasts perfectly for a little spice and a little sweetness without that syrupy taste you get with other brands that add the flavor into the whiskey. This is subtle and can be enjoyed alone, in a cocktail or even your brunch coffee.

Alberta Premium Cask Strength Rye Whisky

Wow, this is a phenomenal Canadian rye!

While it is cask strength, I did not feel it was as overwhelming as other cask strength spirits I have tried. The nose is spicy yet light. Canadian ryes are definitely different than US ryes. I have enjoyed sipping it neat and plan to try it in a Manhattan and several other cocktails. Take off to the Great White North with this rye!

Mine came bottled at 66% alcohol and holy cow, it's intense. After sipping it neat I added a couple of drops of water and the flavors opened up even more. If you like it spicy, get your hands on a bottle of this while you can.

High West Yippee Ki-Yay

This is an awesome rye. One of the best I’ve had. We paid substantially less than current price but, it’s definitely a $250+ bottle.

The Best Rye I've Tasted Since Sazerac

I'm sorry that Tallyfins had a bad experience — maybe they did get a bad batch — but I more than love this rye. I got it as a Christmas present last year (Christmas 2020), and couldn't stop raving about it. It's a great deal more subtle and complex than any other rye I've ever had, excepting maybe only Sazerac: it reminds me somewhat of a Scotch or a good Bourbon, the peppery and spicey notes certainly there but with less of an edge of straight heat than many other ryes have and just a sneaky bit of caramel or honey, and just miles more well-balanced and smooth-drinking than any other rye I've ever tried (again, excepting maybe only Sazerac). I genuinely think ryes like this one are the future of American rye whiskey.

High West A Midwinter Nights Dram

A great bottle of bourbon

I have been trying to get my hands on this one for awhile now. It did not disappoint. The markup definitely leaves a lot to be desired, but I would definitely buy again because it is an exceptional bourbon. I don’t really care for High West’s other bottles, but this one ranks in my top 5.

i especially like rye whiskeys, and this one is my favorite. The slight sweetness and smoothness of the rum balances out the typical pepper taste from the rye. Even non whiskey drinkers love it. I bought a bottle on a family vacation once and it was gone in a couple of days from veryine else also drinking it

Best version of MGP 95% Rye you'll find!

Great juice, Noble Oak's focus on finishing already delicious distillate is what makes the finished product so good. The port wine staves balance out the spice from the high rye mash bill perfectly. Great bang for your buck if you like ryes.
