Dixon Dedman is a Kentucky native and renowned blender known for creating some of the finest American whiskeys of the past two decades. With plenty of experience in the industry, he set out to create something new after leaving Kentucky Owl ― the famous brand he relaunched in 2014. His new project is named 2XO ― Two Times Oak ― referring to the unique process of re-barrelling carefully-selected whiskey into new charred oak casks. Limited editions and single barrels are the names of the game and The Phoenix Blend is the first small-batch release from the brand. It's a blend of Kentucky straight bourbons: two proprietary mash bills from two distilleries. One has the rye toned down, the other is a high-rye bourbon. The resulting spirit is a flavor-packed 104-proof sipper with plenty of character and complexity. Look for notes of butterscotch, caramel, vanilla, fruit, and peppery spice.
