About Admiral Rodney HMS Formidable Rare Saint Lucia Rum

Admiral George B. Rodney was a master at naval strategy, a big-time gambler, and not really shy about collecting all that war loot. He'll always be remembered for his epic win at the Battle of the Saints — in 1782, the French were gunning for the Caribbean Sugar Islands, but Rodney was ready and waiting. He outsmarted the French admiral and sailed straight through the gaps in their line to claim victory, using the famous tactic known as "breaking the line." Today, the Admiral Rodney Rum Series honors those brave Brits who beat the French fleet — and with much success, for their Rum received Gold at the International Wine & Spirits Competition in London, the World Spirits Competition in Germany, and the Rum Trophy at the International Spirits Challenge.

HMS Formidable was Admiral Rodney’s flagship in the Battle of the Saints — and this impressionable blend of column-distilled rums aged between 9 and 12 years was inspired by its rich legacy. The rums are aged in American white oak bourbon barrels, and the resulting spirit sweeps you away with waves of honey, vanilla, toasty oak, and spice flavors. A really complex neat-sipper that will leave you wanting more.

About Rum

Rum history allegedly started in the Carribiens in the 17th century when they started to ferment and distill molasses, a byproduct of sugar production. Most of the Rum is aged in oak or ex-wine casks, giving its color and flavor.

We distinguish between 4 different Rum categories, where white or unaged rum is mainly used in cocktails, while dark, spiced, and añejo (aged) rum are mostly enjoyed neat.
