About Amass Los Angeles Dry Gin

Amass makes premium spirits with a deep connection with nature. They cherish the spirit-makers in their midst and take special care in creating each distillation, meticulous testing, and consideration. They have taken the nomadic approach, traveling between cities, and creating small-batches of spirits. Instead of using marketing tricks, they are building their community around their distillers and the quality of their products. They are dedicated to using the finest non-GMO ingredients and sustainability.

The driving force behind Amass Gin is Master Distiller Morgan McLahlan, co-founder of The Spirit Guild. Morgan has loved exploring the forests of the Canadian Pacific Northwest since she was a child, and her love of botany has only grown over the years. After spending 10 years working as a camera operator, she found her new calling ― distillation. She has now spent more than a decade honing her skills and has found her focus in botanical-driven spirits. She takes an experimental punk-rock approach with plants, spices, and herbs in order to achieve a fresh and modern take on the classics.

Distilled in a 240-gallon copper still, Amass Los Angeles Dry Gin is crafted with 29 botanicals, including California bay and cascara sagrada native to California for citrusy notes. Reishi and lion's Mane mushroom are added for a touch of earthiness. These are all expertly balanced with the usual juniper, coriander, citrus peel, cardamom, cloves, and nutmeg in order to achieve a complex and modern, yet classic palate.

About Amass

Founded in 2012 by the pioneer of the modern craft distillation movement in California, Morgan McLachlan, Amass offers a portfolio of premium botanic beverages, self-care products, including hand soap, hand sanitizer, and lotions as well as ready-to-drink hard seltzers. Morgan McLachlan, also the Master Distiller, cultivated her fascination with botany ever since she was a child, growing up in the Canadian Pacific Northwest. Her passion for plants turned into a passion for distilling and the mission of Amass is to bring plant-based pleasures into your everyday life.

Using all-natural, non-GMO botanicals, the complete list of botanicals is disclosed for every product. Amass never uses artificial preservatives or unnecessary chemicals in their clean botanics. Their modern portfolio ranges from Dry Gin, Botanic Vodka, and non-alcoholic spirit Riverine, to Hard Seltzers, of which McLachland says “rather than being exclusively fruit forward, we chose some fruit flavors and then developed a botanically interesting profile around those flavors. Our hard seltzers have an aroma and a bit of a longer finish so it’s more of a journey in your mouth, yet refreshing.”

About Gin

According to Winston Churchill, "The gin and tonic has saved more Englishmen's lives and minds than all the doctors in the Empire," referring to the British officers using it to treat malaria in India.

Initially made for medicinal purposes, gin gets most of its flavor from the juniper berries added after the distillation process. It sure has come a long way from the Middle Ages, with the introduction of new botanicals, fruits, and spices, bringing it closer to people of all flavor varieties.

The profile is exceptionally well-balanced in its complexity. The fresh and citrus-forward nose introduces the citrusy palate. There is ample spice with prominent cardamom and herbal notes. It gets warmer towards the spicy and peppery finish with plenty of earthy notes.
