About Ardbeg BizarreBQ Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Ardbeg is a famous distillery that lies on the southern coast of the island of Islay. Notorious for producing some of the boldest and most robust Scotch whisky in the industry, the distillery that was founded in 1815 is known for its smoky single malts. Each year, we see several limited-edition expressions arrive from the distillery, ranging from outrageous to simply outrageously tasty. Ardbeg BizarreBQ is a collaboration with Christian Stevenson (DJ BBQ). The barbecue-inspired-Scotch had Master Distiller Dr. Bill Lumsden collaborate with Stevenson. The whisky was matured in 3 distinct casks: double-charred oak, Pedro Ximénez sherry, and unique Ardbeg's BBQ casks. Charcoal, soot, smoky wood, herbs, and spices meet in this unapologetic 101.8-proof single malt. It's the perfect summer BBQ companion, as Lumsden puts it: "If there's one Ardbeg you want with you grill-side, it's this one."

About Ardbeg

The southernmost of the Inner Hebridean Scottish Isles, the island of Islay (pronounced EYE-lah) is only 240 square miles and home to just over 3,000 inhabitants. Still, the island is one of just five distilling regions in Scotland whose identity is protected by law.

Ardbeg Distillery, which is situated on the southern coast of Islay, was founded in 1815 by the MacDougall family. By 1886, nearly one-third of the population of Islay worked at the distillery and today, it stands as a testament to Scottish heritage and tradition.

About Scotch

Scotch is the most popular whisky in the world and is considered the king of them all! There are five whisky regions in Scotland (six if you count the not officially recognized Islands), and each of them produces spirits with unique properties and distinct tasting notes. (The type of grain used determents the type of the scotch.)

Malt whisky is made of malted barley, and grain whisky uses other grains like corn or wheat. Most of the time, a whisky is blended from different distilleries hence the name blended scotch, but if a malt whisky is produced in a single distillery, we get something extraordinary called a single malt.

The nose is smoky with charcoal soot, wood, herbs, and spices. Lok for smoked ham, toffee, and a touch of espresso, along with a hint of citrus and seared meat. The palate is spicy with BBQ ribs, grilled steak, smoke, chili, clove, leather, ginger, and aniseed.
