Once upon a time, in 1995, Jean-Philippe Brunello took the reins of the family business, Artez, and transformed 12 hectares of Bas Armagnac into a rare and unique spirit haven. With a childhood passion for Armagnac and spirits, Jean-Philippe's grandfather, a cellar master in Ognoas, helped cultivate his love for the drink. Artez's claim to fame lies in its emphasis on single-varietal Armagnacs, a rarity that calls for top-notch blending and distilling know-how. The star of the show here is this Folle Blanche Napoléon Bas Armagnac, made entirely from the Folle Blanche grape, which used to be the go-to grape in Armagnac until it was decimated by phylloxera in 1862. These days, Folle Blanche accounts for just 5% of the total Armagnac vineyard, making Artez's Armagnac Folle Blanche a mighty scarce sip indeed. The Napoléon expression undergoes a single distillation on-site and is aged for no less than a decade in oak barrels, yielding a bouquet of floral notes that befit the grape variety, along with flavors of white peach blossom, dried apricot, and orange peel. All told, a mere 40,000 bottles are produced each year, so don’t wait up!

About Brandy
Brandy is typically produced from distilled wine and other fermented fruit juices like apples, pears, and other sweet fruits.
It is a perfect after-dinner digestif served neat or slightly warmed by holding the glass with your hands.
The kick can vary between 70-120 proof, and it gets its flavor from aging in wooden casks.
The nose is complex with initial floral notes and hints of white peach blossom, honeysuckle, ripe grapes, oaky tannins, vanilla, and brown butter. There is also a subtle hint of dried tropical fruits. The palate is velvety and rich with white peach flowers, brown sugar, and maple flavors balanced by a touch of tangy dried apricot and orange peel. The finish is medium-length, with lingering notes of coffee, crème brûlée, and vanilla.
