About BHAKTA 2013 Straight Rye Whiskey

American innovation meets French tradition in BHAKTA 2013 Straight Rye Whiskey. Crafted with a masterful touch by Raj Peter Bhakta, the genius behind the rye revival with WhistlePig Whiskey, this bold and spicy spirit is a testament to a legacy reborn. Distilled from a mash bill of 95% rye and 5% corn, this whiskey is a journey through time and taste. Aged for over 10 years and finished in prestigious Calvados casks from Château BHAKTA, it emerges as a golden orange treasure, proofed at a robust 107.6. With only 800 cases released, each sip from this limited edition offers a symphony of flavors: sweet vanilla, caramel, apple pie, a zing of citrus, followed by a spicy kick of pepper and nutmeg, all culminating in a dry finish with mellow oak and a whisper of rancio. BHAKTA 2013 Straight Rye Whiskey is a revival, a celebration, and a masterpiece rolled into one.

About Rye

As American as the bald eagle, rye whiskey was first brewed in the American Northeast in the 1600s. Even George Washington distilled it after leaving the Oval Office, so there’s no way of denying its origin.
It’s distinguished from bourbon for its original and unique spicy notes.

By law, rye whiskey must be made from at least 51% rye grain, aged in new and charred oak barrels for at least two years, and bottled at no more than 62,5% ABV.

The nose is sweet with vanilla, caramel, apple, oak, and a touch of citrus. Look for spice with pepper and nutmeg on the soft palate that leads to a dry finish with gentle oak and rancio notes.
