About Bluecoat Elderflower Dry Gin

All gins begin with juniper berries, and Bluecoat American Dry Gin is no exception. However, Bluecoat utilizes exclusively organic Mediterranean juniper berries, due to their softer flavor and spicy, earthy notes, as opposed to the pungent, pine tree-flavored juniper berries found within the London Dry style. Complimenting the soft juniper notes, a premium blend of organic American sweet citrus peel, which is not typically found in most gins, gives Bluecoat American Dry Gin its classic citrusy finish, and a flavor profile fit for the American drinker’s palate. Bluecoat American Dry Gin is distilled on a custom, hand-hammered copper pot still and produced in small batches in the heart of Philadelphia, to ensure quality and consistency in every bottle.

With a solid foundation in their Bluecoat American Gin, Philadelphia Distilling began experimenting with different flavors. This is how the Elderflower Dry Gin came to be. What was once a distillery-only bottling is now available here. Infused with organic elderflower via a maceration process, it's a light and floral expression that's bottled at 94 proof.

About Bluecoat

Bluecoat American Dry Gin is produced by Philadelphia Distilling in the birthplace of America, Philadelphia, PA. Philadelphia Distilling was the first craft distillery built in the state of Pennsylvania since Prohibition. Inspired by those who came before, Bluecoat Gin was named in honor of the soldiers that fought for America’s Independence in the Revolutionary War. Bluecoat celebrates the independent spirit of these free-thinking revolutionaries. The signature blue bottle of Bluecoat American Dry Gin personifies the historic blue jacket and gold buttons of the Bluecoat Revolutionary Soldiers, connecting the rich history of 1776 to the present day. Bluecoat, as the original American Dry gin, is in a class by itself.

About Gin

According to Winston Churchill, "The gin and tonic has saved more Englishmen's lives and minds than all the doctors in the Empire," referring to the British officers using it to treat malaria in India.

Initially made for medicinal purposes, gin gets most of its flavor from the juniper berries added after the distillation process. It sure has come a long way from the Middle Ages, with the introduction of new botanicals, fruits, and spices, bringing it closer to people of all flavor varieties.

The nose is floral and light with elderflower and citrus notes. The palate is equally bright and floral with prominent elderflower, citrus, jasmine, and a touch of familiar pine forest juniper notes. These notes linger through the dry and floral finish.
