About Castle & Key Restoration Rye Single Barrel 1685 Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey
Castle & Key Restoration Whiskey Single Barrel is blended using a series of pods, each pod being created by grouping barrels to create a sensory profile. Castle & Key’s main mission is to focus on finding the best expression of the barrels rather than forcing a consistent flavor profile. Their whiskies are therefore showcasing the anomalies, the unusual, and the interesting. Each batch, therefore, highlights different flavor profiles. The Restorations Rye Single Barrel is a journey in every barrel. Not two bottles taste exactly the same, but each one is promising a full and soft mouthfeel that will leave you longing for more. Barrel 1685 is an outstanding example of the creativity and poise Castle & Key is best known for. Made from a mashbill of 17% yellow corn, 63% rye, and 20% malted barley, this exclusive whiskey is an exceptional find, cherished among connoisseurs and collectors.

About Rye
As American as the bald eagle, rye whiskey was first brewed in the American Northeast in the 1600s. Even George Washington distilled it after leaving the Oval Office, so there’s no way of denying its origin. It’s distinguished from bourbon for its original and unique spicy notes.
By law, rye whiskey must be made from at least 51% rye grain, aged in new and charred oak barrels for at least two years, and bottled at no more than 62,5% ABV.
A delicate nose with aromas of black pepper, clove, butterscotch, fresh cedar, cinnamon sugar, black tea, bright floral, fresh mint, orange peel, and heavily charred oak. The taste buds will be hit with soft notes of toasted brown sugar, fresh orange peel, bitter charred oak, fresh mint, licorice, rye bread, earthy/floral grain, coffee grounds, pipe tobacco, light fruit, and burnt vanilla before you will be treated to a long, sweet finish.
