This 100% New York State Rye Whiskey is crafted using a high rye mash bill of 80% rye and 20% corn. Aged in new charred oak barrels and finished in hand-selected Cabernet Sauvignon barrels, this limited edition rye whiskey delivers bold spice, black pepper, and caraway on the front, followed by rich notes of dark rye bread and pumpernickel on the finish. Cooperstown Distillery continues to impress with this unique, complex offering that pays homage to classic rye while adding a modern twist with its wine barrel finish.
As American as the bald eagle, rye whiskey was first brewed in the American Northeast in the 1600s. Even George Washington distilled it after leaving the Oval Office, so there’s no way of denying its origin.
It’s distinguished from bourbon for its original and unique spicy notes.
By law, rye whiskey must be made from at least 51% rye grain, aged in new and charred oak barrels for at least two years, and bottled at no more than 62,5% ABV.
