About Fable Hound 12 Year Old Chapter Five Mannochmore Scotch Whisky

Bridging the gap between "the art of storytelling, animation, and illustration" and quality Scotch, Fable Whisky is an independent Scottish bottler that was founded by industry veterans Andrew Torrance and Calum Lawrie. The team sources exceptional and exclusive casks from some of the finest distilleries in Scotland ― both famous and little-known, bottling them straight from the casks without chill-filtration. Sometimes, they even mature some of them further. Each whisky or "Chapter", as they are called, is part of a story devised by writer Des Waddy and visual artist Hugo Cuellar, the latter contributing hauntingly beautiful illustrations. Chapter Fife: Hound was distilled at the Mannochmore distillery, known for its excitingly fruity style of Speyside whisky. The whisky spent 12 years in its hogshead (cask no. 5435) before being bottled in 2021. Only 254 bottles of this bright and fruity expression were released.

About Scotch

Scotch is the most popular whisky in the world and is considered the king of them all! There are five whisky regions in Scotland (six if you count the not officially recognized Islands), and each of them produces spirits with unique properties and distinct tasting notes. (The type of grain used determents the type of the scotch.)

Malt whisky is made of malted barley, and grain whisky uses other grains like corn or wheat. Most of the time, a whisky is blended from different distilleries hence the name blended scotch, but if a malt whisky is produced in a single distillery, we get something extraordinary called a single malt.

The nose opens with fresh bread and stone fruit aromas reminiscent of grappa. The palate is peachy with green apple and floral notes, culminating in an equally fresh, light, and gently warming finish.
