About Hamilton Jamaican Pot Still Black Rum

Hamilton Jamaican Pot Still Black Rum is distilled in Jamaica at the acclaimed Worthy Park Estate. Located in the heart of Jamaica, Worthy Park grows its own cane on the estate and is famous for its efficient sugar mill that turns the sugarcane into sugar and molasses. Hamilton Jamaican Pot Still Black Rum is a blend of light, very light, and heavy pot-still rum that is distilled from fermented molasses. Then, it is imported to the Five & 20 Spirits distillery in Westfield, NY, where it is diluted with filtered well water from the property and bottled at 93 proof. Apart from caramel coloring (DS-400 cane sugar-based caramel), nothing is added to the finished product.

About Rum

Rum history allegedly started in the Carribiens in the 17th century when they started to ferment and distill molasses, a byproduct of sugar production. Most of the Rum is aged in oak or ex-wine casks, giving its color and flavor.

We distinguish between 4 different Rum categories, where white or unaged rum is mainly used in cocktails, while dark, spiced, and añejo (aged) rum are mostly enjoyed neat.
