About Jefferson's Ocean Aged at Sea Voyage 29 Wheated Bourbon
29 Wheated is the newest expression in the OCEAN Aged at Sea Voyage series, making it the third wheated bourbon in their collection. Starting its journey in the Port of Savannah, surviving rampant sea storms and extreme temperature changes, the memory of its rocking journey leaves its traces on the flavor of the bourbon — in this specific case, the torrid heat caramelized the sugar and the salty sea air imbued the barrel, resulting in a deeper and more complex bourbon, clocking in at 90 proof. By replacing rye with wheat, they allowed for the savory and briny taste of bourbon to develop to its full potential, giving it a softer, subtler taste that is delicately infused with rich hints of vanilla stemming from the wood and the sweetness given away by the corn.

About Jefferson's
The principal author of the Declaration of Independence and one of the most illustrious founding fathers, Thomas Jefferson was elected the third President of the United States in 1800. During his tenure as President, Jefferson authorized the purchase of the Louisiana Territory, dispatched Lewis and Clark westward to explore the remainder of the continent, and repealed the Whiskey Excise Tax.
After Jefferson retired from public office in 1815, he often tended to the garden that he had cultivated at his Monticello estate. At the time, it was customary for wealthy farmers, including Jefferson, to make their own garden spirits. Each farmer's spirits were unique and reflected their personal tastes and the local terroir of their farm. Jefferson's Reserve Very Old Straight Bourbon Whiskey is crafted by Chet and Trey Zoeller in honor of Jefferson and his experimental nature. While the Zoellers were inspired by Jefferson, their roots can be traced back for generations deep into Kentucky's bourbon history.
There are not many things more American than bourbon, and although most of it is produced in Kentucky, it can be produced all over the USA. It must be made with at least 51% corn and bottled at 40% ABV or higher. So why not give this American classic a try?
The Jefferson's Ocean Aged at Sea opens with a mixture of butterscotch and vanilla bean on the nose, adding in a small splash of caramel at the end. Toasted caramel is also one of the star players on the flavor front, along with the sweetness of vanilla, the spiciness of white pepper, and of course a slight tinge of sea salt. The long finish leaves you wanting more with a perfect blend of oak, pecans, nutmeg, and sourdough bread.
