About Larceny Barrel Proof Batch A122 Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey

Larceny Barrel Bourbon Whiskey from Heaven Hill distillery is named after his infamous practice of pilfering bourbon from the finest barrels for his own enjoyment. With the Barrel Proof line, you too can taste your bourbon straight from the barrel, the way old Fitzgerald did.
Barrel Proof is a brand extension that was launched in 2020. It consists of bourbon that is made from winter wheat instead of rye as a secondary grain, making the liquid smoother in texture. The barrels are aged from 6 to 8 years and then bottled uncut, non-chill filtered. The Barrel Proof Batch A122 is the first release in 2022 and it contains just around 200 barrels.
Batch A122 is proofed at 124.4, strong for the brand that usually averages 92 proof. That means roughly one-third more alcohol and a more concentrated flavor profile. This is a dark and rich bourbon, more earthy than you would expect from a wheated bourbon. A touch of water will benefit this Bourbon which will instantly become sweeter, and more floral, losing some of its burnt edge.

About Bourbon
There are not many things more American than bourbon, and although most of it is produced in Kentucky, it can be produced all over the USA. It must be made with at least 51% corn and bottled at 40% ABV or higher. So why not give this American classic a try?
This spirit has a nice copper-amber color of aged bourbon. It is heavy-bodied with strong flavors of wood, then caramel, molasses, dried fruits, and toasted hazelnut. The finish is long with additional notes of leather, oak, and hints of tobacco.
