About Lost Republic Straight Bourbon
Lost Republic Bourbon is sourced carefully from distilleries in Indiana, Tennessee and California, with the resulting blend comprised of 75% corn, 21% rye and 4% barley. Once combined, the bourbon is aged three years and two months in 53-gallon, new American oak casks that have been exposed to a #2 char. Each batch, bottled at an exact 91 proof, consists of only two barrels, or about 600 bottles.
As a result, Lost Republic Bourbon has an aroma of Meyer lemon, allspice and bananas, which leads to a hearty palate filled with biscuits and jam, honey and vanilla. The finish is subtle and surprising, filled with cut hay, creme brulee and oak.
Each batch of Lost Republic Bourbon is extremely limited — pick up a bottle or two today!
About Lost Republic
Matthew Weese has a curious story — although he spent much of his early career making wine for some of the top wineries in California, he himself doesn’t drink wine; instead, he fashions himself a bourbon man. "I loved the art of making wine, of getting my hands dirty and creating something spectacular from start to finish," says Weese. "But I’d be sitting around the table with friends and colleagues, and my glass would always be empty. Something needed to change."
One night, Weese’s childhood friend suggested that he start making bourbon — the drink he really loved. While at first he thought the idea was crazy, as the evening wore on (and a few more drinks were poured) Weese gradually became convinced, and the idea for Lost Republic Distillery was born.
At Lost Republic Distillery, Weese takes a winemakers’ approach to bourbon, focusing on the subtleties of flavor that are possible with quality ingredients and careful attention to detail.
