About Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque 2006 Blanc de Blancs Champagne

Perrier-Jouët was founded in 1811 by Nicolas Perrier and Adèle Jouët. However, the main star of their estate, located in Épernay, has always been chardonnay. 99.2% of the 65 hectares of vineyards are of the Grand Cru denomination, including sites in the Côte des Blancs - Cramant and Avize. This cuvée is inspired by the historic Blason de France Brut (1955-1990), Perrier-Jouët’s first prestige bottling, which was made in partnership with Relais & Chateau, and offered only in the finest restaurants worldwide.

Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque Blanc de Blancs was first introduced in 1998 by Cellar Master Hervé Deschamps to celebrate the upcoming new Millenium. The first vintage released was the 1993. The grapes for this wine are harvested from two iconic vineyard sites, the Bourbons-Leroy and the Boutons-de-Midi. The vineyards have a south/southeast exposure, which are ideal ripening conditions, giving the wine its unmistakable terroir.

This is a 2006 vintage expression.

About Champagne

Champagne has been associated with royalties since the 17th century, still maintaining its glorious reputation.

The French take Champagne seriously, so coming from the Champagne region of France isn't the only requirement that keeps this drink from being "just sparkling wine." The rules of the appellation require specific vineyard practices, particular types of grapes, specific pressing methods, and secondary fermentation of wine.

Bright, shimmering gold with subtle glints of green. The nose is pampered with lush aromas of white flowers, subtle honey, pear, pineapple, and candied lemon. The palate is full and rich, yet still crisp and fresh. The finish is long, silky, and elegant.
