About Pure Scot Signature Blended Scotch Whisky

Bladnoch first opened its doors in 1817. In 2015, the historic Lowlands distillery was purchased by Australian entrepreneur David Prior with whisky production resuming soon after. 3 new expressions were released to celebrate the occasion: the Samsara, Talia, and Adela. More recently, they added Pure Scot to the lineup. It's a blended Scotch that was crafted by Master Distiller Ian MacMillan. It combines Bladnoch's own Lowland single malt with Speyside, Highlands, and Islay whisky into a smooth, crisp, and modern expression with notes of toffee, fruit, smoke, honey, and pepper. Pure Scot is bottled at 80 proof.

About Scotch

Scotch is the most popular whisky in the world and is considered the king of them all! There are five whisky regions in Scotland (six if you count the not officially recognized Islands), and each of them produces spirits with unique properties and distinct tasting notes. (The type of grain used determents the type of the scotch.)

Malt whisky is made of malted barley, and grain whisky uses other grains like corn or wheat. Most of the time, a whisky is blended from different distilleries hence the name blended scotch, but if a malt whisky is produced in a single distillery, we get something extraordinary called a single malt.

The nose is aromatic with toffee, fruit, malt, and a touch of smoke. The palate is full-bodied with a balance of smoke, ginger marmalade, honey, fruit, and pepper. The finish is equally balanced with lingering spice and smoke notes.
