About Rare Hare 17 Year Old 1953 Straight Bourbon Whiskey

Playboy ― the iconic men's lifestyle magazine ― hardly needs an introduction. The magazine was founded in 1953 by Hugh Hefner. Rare Hare Spirits is a partnership of blenders, sommeliers, chefs, and anthropologists that was launched in 2021 with a tequila. In 2022, the brand's inaugural whiskey was released. Rare Hare 17 Year Old 1953 Straight Bourbon pays tribute to the year when Playboy was founded. The wonderfully mature 7-year-old straight bourbon was finished in XXO Cognac casks from the Champagne region of France before being bottled at 111 proof. Only 1,953 bottles of this rare, limited-edition whiskey were produced.

Tasting Notes

The nose is fruity and mature with dried fruit, caramelized nectarine, and hints of clove. The palate is medium-bodied with herbal, creamed corn, oak, and baking spice notes, culminating in a long finish with lingering caramel and nutmeg.
