Roots Kanela is a modern take on a 15th century "tentura" recipe from the Ionian Islands. In the past, homemade tinctures or extracts were made with spices that came to the ports in the Ionian Sea, such as true cinnamon and clove buds, and the timeless recipe used for Roots Kanela honors this tradition. A neat digestif, its unique palate with rich flavors of cinnamon and lush earthy notes with sweet peppermint, cedar and vanilla makes Roots Kanela perfect for enjoying after dinner or for spicing up any cocktail with a drop of cinnamon.

About ROOTS
In 2013, two Greek brothers Manos and Nikolas made the decision to "go back to their roots" in the oldest distillery in Greece and they created Roots – a new range of premium liqueurs. Based on time-honored liqueur recipes and rare Greek ingredients, the collection includes Roots Rakomelo, Roots Mastic, Roots Kanela, and Roots Diktamo as well as Roots Divino; two non-alcoholic craft aperitifs. All Roots liqueurs are handcrafted and made with ancient herbs, all sourced sustainably in Greece, to bring to the world the traditional Greek spirits in an exciting new form. Today, Roots liqueurs can be found in the best bars in London, Athens, Rome, and Paris with each spirit telling its own story.
This typical aperitif has its origins in 13th century Italy where it was used for medicinal purposes. The liqueur is produced worldwide and can have all sorts of flavor profiles, from fruit, spices, nuts, and even cream, and has a low proof of 15 to 30% ABV.
Liqueur can be enjoyed in many different fashions, from drinking neat, in cocktails, served with coffee, or even used for cooking.
A rich and lush nose with earthy aromas of sweet peppermint and vanilla. The palate is sweet with a touch of cinnamon spice and clove buds. The finish is short and sweet with cedar notes.
