About Samuel Gelston's Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey (Pinot Noir Cask Finish) (700mL)

Dive into the world of exquisite Irish craftsmanship with Samuel Gelston's Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey, featuring a unique Pinot Noir Cask Finish that's a testament to innovation and familial legacy. This particular expression celebrates a heartwarming collaboration between Johnny Neill and his cousin, actor and vineyard owner Sam Neill, merging the rich heritage of Irish whiskey with the finesse of New Zealand's esteemed Pinot Noir. Triple distilled for purity and aged meticulously — first for 22 months in ex-bourbon casks, then for 21 to 27 months in French oak casks previously housing Two Paddocks Pinot Noir — this whiskey is a harmonious blend of cultures and flavors. Revel in its rich bronze color, with tantalizing notes of strawberry, nutmeg, and tropical fruit on the nose, followed by a palate bursting with sweetness, hints of dryness, blackcurrant, and a dash of spice. The finish? A smooth, delightful fusion of sweet marshmallow and jam. Not just a feast for the senses, this whiskey also boasts prestigious accolades, clinching Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition and The Irish Whiskey Masters in 2021

About Irish Whiskey

Contrary to popular belief that Scots invented whisk(e)y, Irish whiskey was mentioned almost a century before its Scottish brother.

Its origin comes from the perfume distilling monks who decided to tweak the recipe a bit, creating Irish whiskey.

Irish whiskey doesn’t have a lot of rules and regulations to be considered “pure” and can be made with various grains and processes, as long as it is aged for at least three years in wooden casks and has a max ABV of 94.8%.

The nose is malty and fruity with strawberry, tropical aromas, and a touch of nutmeg. Look for blackcurrant and spice on the rich and sweet palate that leads to a smooth finish with jam and marshmallow notes.
