Fresh out of Owensboro, Kentucky, comes a traditional and devoted distillery dutifully committed to producing top-shelf whiskey. Aptly named Green River Distilling, this beverage producer was established by J.W. McCulloch in 1885 near Green River, southcentral Kentucky. Impressive oak forests surround its limestone-rich silvery liquid and act as the primary water source today. And one instance of their delicious produce is certainly Shady Mile High Wheat Bourbon. With its mash bill of 70% Corn, 21% Wheat, 9% Malted Barley and 90 proof, it possesses the right amount of sweetness from the corn and nuttiness from the wheat, resulting in a warming kick. When it comes to flavor and aromas, this Shady ain’t slim at all, as it showcases chocolate toffee and stone fruit aromas alongside flavors of brown spice, granola, and maple syrup. Aged for two years and equipped with an orange-tinted rust color, this spirit will give you that boozy comfort you crave at the end of the day, provided you take only a couple of golden sips. Like chocolate and burgers, we don’t suggest overindulging in this fiery drink but encourage a decadent slow-sipping experience.

Tasting Notes

The nose opens with dark solid stone fruits, light oak, soft honey, and chocolate toffee. Flavors of brown spices and granola cereal are accompanied by light caramel, leather char, and leather accents. It finishes on a fruity note, with a lingering sweetness and hints of cornbread waffles with maple syrup and pepper jelly.
