About Woodford Reserve Master's Collection Chocolate Malted Rye Bourbon Whiskey
The Woodford Reserve Master’s Collection Chocolate Malted Rye is the 15th release in the series honoring the pioneering work of Pepper and Crow. The series applies their handcrafted methods to a variety of grain recipes, fermentation styles and maturation processes to create a range of unique whiskeys.
Chocolate malt is simply a malted grain that’s been toasted to bring out more of its sugars, which yields chocolatey flavors in the finished whisky. This Chocolate Malted Rye is crafted by roasting the rye malt to a level that its natural sugars caramelized into a dark chocolate note. Distilled from a mash of 70% corn, 15% chocolate malted rye, 15% distillers malt, this bourbon is bottled at 90.4 proof.

About Woodford Reserve
The Woodford Reserve Distillery sits on what was once an old Distillery founded by Elijah and his son, Oscar Pepper, in the 1800s. Years later, under the stewardship of Oscar and Master Distiller James Crow, their distillery reformed and modernized producing whiskey in the United States — the distillery revolutionized the concepts of sour mash and yeast propagation.
Today, the distillery is among Kentucky's oldest and smallest bourbon distilleries. Nestled in the heart of the Commonwealth's thoroughbred country, it's the only place you'll find bourbon and horses maturing side by side. It's also one of a handful of spirits companies in the world to own a cooperage and craft its barrels, allowing for ultimate precision when creating exact toast and char specifications.
There are not many things more American than bourbon, and although most of it is produced in Kentucky, it can be produced all over the USA. It must be made with at least 51% corn and bottled at 40% ABV or higher. So why not give this American classic a try?
Soft mocha, delicate caramel and roasted nut notes on the nose mingle with hints of cedar, soft oak and a touch of fruit. On the palate are notes of toasted rye grain, dry cocoa nibs and dark chocolate spice up a soft mocha character atop a layer of cherry fruit and toasted oak. The finish is lingering and chocolatey.
